Sandra Porter began her working life as a song recitalist and concert soloist, singing in Britain, Tokyo, Milan, Beijing and Germany with BBC SSO, Chamber Group of Scotland, Scottish Symphonia, Symphony of Harmony and Invention, Sentieri selvaggi, Telemann Ensemble, and Nonesuch Early Music Ensemble. She also commissioned works and broadcast for BBC Radio 3.
At home in both the comic and dramatic, Sandra now specializes particularly in character roles. Her recent performances include Lucia in Cavalleria Rusticana at (Cork Opera House, Katisha in Mikado at (Cork Opera House, Suzuki in Madame Butterfly at (Iford Arts, Annina in La Traviata (Iford Arts, Opera Holland Park), Filipyevna Eugene Onegin (Stanley Hall), The Witch Hansel and Gretel (Buxton), Berta Barber of Seville (Stanley Hall), Juno Semele (Buxton), Ino Semele (London Early Opera), Storge Jeptha (International Baroque Players), and Mrs McLean Susannah (English Touring Opera).
Since 2011 she has been working for English National Opera and has understudied: Martha (Faust), Ericlea (The Return of Ulysses), Marcellina (The Marriage of Figaro), Filipyevna (Eugene Onegin) Swiss Grandmother (The Death of Klinghoffer) and Governess (Queen of Spades).
